Understanding The Body Chakras
According to the ancient Hindu scriptures, the body chakras are seven energy centers in human body located in its subtle within and in a vertical straight line starting from the base of the spine to the crown of the head. Scientifically, the body chakras are linked to the major nerve ganglia from the spinal cord and thus these are energy receiving and transmitting life force energy centers of an individual which reflects the level of consciousness, archetypal elements, and developmental stages of man and is the sole cause for his physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual state and condition.
The Muladhar Chakra is the base or root of all the body chakras located at the last bone of the spine. Standing for group force and identity, it can be felt while watching your country win a gold medal. Blockage in the energy flow of this chakra can result in viral or epidemics and affect areas like the immunity system, rectum, bones and feet.
After the power of your group identity, the Swadhisthana or Sacral body chakra is all about the power of relationships and the power of choice. This duality results in the energies to tell us to make a choice and thereafter gives the lesson that you can not have absolute control. The common fears in this case are fear of loosing control on other people, relationships, money, authority, sex, power, addiction, etc Known as the sacral body chakra, physically it is linked to reproduction and can give rise to ovarian cancer, arthritis, lower back pain, etc. if not directed properly.
After the group and relationship powers, the power of one's personality is resonated in the Manipura body chakra which starts acting since the time of puberty. This body chakra is all about the concept of self and the development of individuality. Hence, while the positives are those of ambition, courage, self esteem and self respect, the negatives lie in the fear of rejection, criticism and consciousness regarding physical appearance.
The center power house of all the body chakras and the human energy system is the Anahata or the heart chakra which stands for emotional power and is the meeting point of body and spirit. While the primary fears here are those of loneliness, commitment, emotional weakness, betrayal, etc, the strengths lie in unconditional love, forgiveness, trust, inspiration and hope. The negative energy of this chakra has the power to not only emotionally wound but create serious ill health issues and thus the act of forgiveness is not only a spiritual act but a major physical healing act as well.
The throat chakra of Vishuddha stands for one's power of will and this is where the struggle between the emotions and power of choice takes place. The fears here are that of loosing control over your own life and this body chakra teaches the lesson that faith is everything. It can be said to be the meeting point of the head and the heart.
The sixth of the body chakras is the chakra of Ajna or the third eye. Located between the eyebrows it is all about the energy that can be directed and channelized through meditation in opening up the sub conscious realms of our psychological forces. This chakra detaches us from all subjective perceptions and opens up the mind for the separation of truth from illusion.
The last and the final of the body chakras resting at the crown of a person's head is that of the Sahasrara Chakra. It is the final and the topmost chakra of spiritual enlightenment which houses all positive energies. The positives of this chakra lie in the aspects of devotion, mystical connection, psychic powers and inspiration, and through advanced meditation, the ultimate truth about the universe is known. A person's true potential is realized and the immortality and omnipotence of the soul is experienced.
