Why do we tell stories?
"Hell is other people," noted famed French philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre, and nowhere could be the statement more true than when it comes to noise pollution from one's neighbors. The issue is usually one of class, as in socio-economic class. While there are always exceptions, those with a higher income tend to recognize the need for quiet - quiet for work, quiet for studying, even quiet for play or other forms of relaxation.
