It is widely known amongst nutrition professionals and journalists in charge of health magazines/columns in the newspaper that getting lots of vegetables and fruits daily is a key cancer prevention strategy; however, you will rarely, if ever, find a woman that is aware that preventing breast cancer is possible.

The next time you find yourself at a party, open a conversation with, "Do you, by any chance, know how many cases of cancer could be prevented by eating more fruits and vegetables?" The American Institute for Cancer Research reports that the answer to that question is: one third of all cases. This fact applies internationally. Other cancers in the body can be prevented in the same way.

DCIS, or otherwise known as ductal carcinoma in situ, is a relatively new diagnosis although breast cancer have been around for a long time. DCIS is cells growing inappropriately inside the ducts of the breast. These cells do not spread to other parts of the body and they only remain at the ducts of the breasts.

More cases of DCIS breast cancer had surfaced now as compared to the past. It is also the cause of 20% of the cases of breast cancer. DCIS is at the same time known as stage breast cancer, whereby the cells aren't invasive yet.

Although DCIS do not spread to other parts of the body like other cancer cells, they can still not be taken lightly because they can transform genetically and turn into true cancerous cells. Therefore it is better to receive treatment for DCIS even though they are not harmful at the moment because you'll never know when they're going to mutate and be a threat to your health.

You'll find different kinds of DCIS as well which determines how aggressive the cells are. Comedo is more aggressive than cribiform as it's high-grade compared to cribiform that is low-grade. High-grade indicates that the DCIS cells will be more likely to turn into true cancerous cells.

Different doctors might get different outcomes for the diagnostic report for DCIS that is why you might need to look for another doctor and be prepared mentally as well as paying for a second time to be diagnosed again. This helps in determine whether or not you need to receive treatment for DCIS.

Since DCIS is relatively new, there are not confirmed causes of DCIS although it is highly believed to be the same as cancer. Cancer is actually made from cells, our regular body cells, however the only difference between cancer cells and normal cells is that cancer cells had lost their ability to stop producing and they had gone haywire. The cancer cells keep producing cells and as a result a tumor is created and the tumor can be deadly.

These tumors might either be benign or malignant. If they are malignant, they'll start spreading throughout your whole body as time passes. DCIS so happened to fall somewhere in between these as DCIS do not spread to other parts of the body. However, if they are left untreated and turn into cancerous cell, they will deal the same impact as what cancer will deal to you.

Please do not be overwhelmed should you learn that you have DCIS. You should be thankful that you found out about it at a very, very initial stage where it's still harmless for your body. And DCIS usually do not necessary evolves into cancerous cells although it is still better to have them removed. To add on, women with DCIS had a survival rate of nearly 100%. Do not lose hope then.

A report published online on cancer treatment discussed that extracts of bitter lemon a tropical fruit had the elements that would reduce the growth of breast cancer chemicals. This is a huge step forward in the breast cancer research.

Basically the extracts of bitter lemon does is that it slows down the signals that tells the breast cancer cells to divide and it helps them to kill itself instead of dividing. The laboratory research when breast cancer cells were treated with bitter lemon showed that it slows down the cells growth process and in many instances it killed them before dividing. This has not been tested on animals as yet. But the research is moving forward proactively where bitter lemon extracts would be tested on animals and eventually if things move positively forward it would be tested on humans.

Statistically breast cancer is the most widespread cancer in women in the world. Genetics and hormonal factors are primary causes of this cancer. Over the years many new types of breast cancer treatments have emerged. Study has shown that because of these different breast cancer options the spread of this cancer can be stopped in early stages.

This bitter lemon is easily found in Africa, Asia and South America. This fruit has also been used in local medicines for treatment of diabetes, allergies and other similar infections. Chinese use bitter lemon in there day to day cooking needs as this adds a nice bitter flavor to their soups and tea. Many other countries like Pakistan, India, Nepal & Vietnam are also using this in cooking too.

As research is in its early stages so experts don't advise eating bitter lemon as a cure for breast cancer. However, they are confident that future in the study of bitter lemon extracts will help in preventing the breast cancer cell growth.

For now you should follow the standard breast cancer treatment's preventive measures like keeping control on your weight, reducing the alcohol consumption, increasing physical activity by exercising and walking and finally getting regular mammograms as prescribed by the doctors. These activities will help in preventing breast cancer in early stages.
