			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<a rel=nofollow></a><p>The Devil's Food Cupcake recipe in the Valentine's Day Menu planner became the subject for my experimentation as I was trying to create an egg-free and grain-free version. I do a lot of experimenting with new recipes and things don't always turn out as planned. What was beginning to look like a disaster as they bubbled like hot chocolate lava and were taking too long to bake turned into something delicious. </p>
<p>I was hoping it would still be edible after I ended up baking them for about 50 minutes. It was still bubbling out of the over and as it cooled I hoped they would still be edible. </p>
<p>I'm giving you the recipe here as well and I decided to add it to the Valentine's Day Menu Planner. These turned into an awesome batch of egg, gluten and grain free brownies.</p>
<p>Grain, Gluten and Egg Free Devil's Food Carob or Chocolate Brownies</p>
<p>Dry:</p>
<p>1 and 2/3 cup of almond flour</p>
<p>1/2 cup sifted cocoa or carob powder</p>
<p>1 tsp sea salt</p>
<p>1/2 tsp baking soda</p>
<p>2 Tbsp flax meal mixed with 6 Tbsp. boiling water</p>
<p>Wet:</p>
<p>1/2 cup honey</p>
<p>1/2 cup coconut oil or melted butter</p>
<p>1 cup coconut milk</p>
<p>2 tsp vanilla</p>
<p>1 tsp lemon juice</p>
<p>Steps:</p>
<p>1. Preheat the oven to 350</p>
<p>2. Mix all dry ingredients in a medium bowl.</p>
<p>3. Mix the wet ingredients together in another bowl.  </p>
<p>4. Dump the dry items into the bowl with the wet items and mix. Mix until they are the consistency of a thick cake batter. If too dry add a little milk. If too wet add a little flour.</p>
<p>5. Grease an 8.5 in. square cake pan with coconut oil or a little butter.</p>
<p>6. Pour batter into pan and bake for 45-50 minutes.  </p>
<p>Brownies will be soft and bubbling but should be done after 50 minutes.  Let cool for at least an hour or overnight before serving.  They will be very soft and moist.</p>
<p>Note: This recipe is not GAPS legal because it uses chocolate. Carob is also not GAPS legal.</p>
<p>I was testing this for the menu planner and I'll confess that I didn't have the will power to only eat a nibble and ended up eating WAY more than I intended.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<a rel=nofollow></a><p>Are coffee drinkers doomed to suffer from heart attacks and strokes later in life? It was thought so at first, especially since taking four to five cups of coffee can increase blood pressure by 5 points in some people. Coffee is also believed to increase homocysteine levels in the blood - a risk factor for heart attacks.</p>
<p>The latest research, though, shows otherwise and states that it is perfectly fine for coffee drinkers to keep consuming their favorite beverage.  One study of 20,000 Finish men and women indicated that coffee consumption did not have a link to heart disease.  In fact, those who consumed coffee over tea were actually more likely to benefit from a healthy heart.  </p>
<p>One study, the Scottish Heart health study, looked at people who drank very large amounts of tea or coffee.  Because it contains many antioxidants, it is commonly believed that tea is better for you than coffee.  Because they are thought to prevent good cholesterol from turning bad and resulting in heart disease, antioxidants are thought to be good for you and even prevent cancer.  </p>
<p>This study looked at 11,000 men and women between the ages of 40 and 59.  They were randomly selected to participate in a seven-year study.  They consumed up to 36 cups of tea and 21 cups of coffee daily.  </p>
<p>But coffee proved to be the hero in the long run in the large-scale study conducted at the Ninewells Hospital in Dundee. Coffee drinkers turned out to be healthier than tea lovers and had strong hearts.  Researchers found that the more coffee consumed, the lower the incidence of heart disease or death. The opposite is true with tea. </p>
<p>Another study from the Harvard School of Public Health indicated that consuming up to six cups of coffee each day can reduce the likelihood of premature death from heart disease.  For 24 years, a group of 41,736 men and 86,216 women were reviewed for their coffee consumption habits.  </p>
<p>Research indicated that the risk of heart disease was reduced with increased coffee consumption.</p>

Grass fed beef, by contrast, is leaner as stated previously, and also contains more omega-3 fatty acids, many more than conventional beef. Omega-3 fatty acids are important, because they may offer cancer protection and they lower blood pressure. Beef grass fed also is much higher in natural vitamin E than regular beef. Although regular beef, too, contains high levels of vitamin E, that vitamin E is in the synthetic form as compared to that in organic beef grass fed. Now, if you were given the choice to ingest natural or synthetic vitamins, which would you choose? Of course, natural, the obvious choice.</p>
<p>Finally, beef grass fed also contains high levels of conjugated linoleic acid, also called CLA. CLA has plenty of health benefits, in that it's a fatty acid that is a great antioxidant and also may protect against cancer. Researchers also believe that CLA may hinder cancer tumors' formation. It also speeds up the metabolism, which is why organic beef may be a fat burner; many fat burner recipes contain this. Beef grass fed is far superior to grain fed, in many different ways. Today, you can find it just about everywhere, and it's good for you. It's true that beef has had a bad reputation, but that's not true of organic beef grass fed; it's a healthy option you can enjoy.</p>
